Organizational, Institutional, and Local Actors’ Perspectives on the Link between Corporate Social Responsibility, Leisure, and Social Order: A Qualitative Study in the Industrial City of Meybod

Abstract

This study examines how organizational, institutional, and local actors construct the link between industries’ leisure initiatives and local social order in Meybod. Its novelty lies in providing a context-sensitive interpretation of this link through industries’ sports, family-oriented, and cultural interventions. The study adopted a qualitative approach and employed reflexive thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarke’s six-phase process. Data were generated through 20 semi-structured interviews; purposive sampling began with 15 participants and was completed with five additional informed actors. The analysis developed four themes: restoring social energy through sports leisure; extending the sphere of responsibility from workers to their families; symbolically recognizing local ties through cultural–religious leisure; and development-oriented leisure organization, from needs assessment to equity in access. The results of this study indicate that participants associated these initiatives with alleviating work-related pressures, strengthening informal interactions, family-oriented support, and local recognition; however, they regarded the realization of their social capacity as contingent upon continuity, institutional coordination, and the equitable distribution of opportunities
