Investigating the status of social capital of students at Bu Ali Sina University and comparing it with the national level

Abstract

Social capital is more important than other capitals in society as a facilitator of individual and social action. Social capital is a very valuable tool for combating social deficiencies. High levels of social capital in young people and adolescents can reduce their risk of social harm and improve their health. In order to investigate the level of social capital among students of Bu Ali Sina University and compare it with other universities (national level), a sample of 290 students of this university was selected using stratified sampling and surveyed. Using a researcher-made questionnaire and measuring 18 dimensions of social capital, the social capital variable was measured. The results of the study show that the level of political and social participation of students of Bu Ali Sina University is lower than other universities. Institutional and generalized trust (in the university) is higher at the national level than at Bu Ali Sina University, which means that trust in the university is lower in this complex compared to other universities. Interaction between professor and student, student and faculty structure, student-academic atmosphere, perceived social support, Bu Ali University has a better situation than other universities. In terms of feeling safe, the average of Bu Ali University students is lower than other universities.
